Naira, an imaginative nine-year-old girl living in precarious conditions near the Colca Canyon, desperately seeks a way to save her mother, Nieves, from the cruel abuse of their landlord, Don Demetrio. When Nieves confesses that they can only escape with either money or wings, Naira clings to an ancient legend about men transforming into birds. After receiving what a shaman interprets as a divine sign from the god Inti – a condor feather – the young girl embarks on a race against time. With her mother's health worsening and Demetrio's threat looming, Naira sets out to secretly build a pair of wings from wool and feathers for the impending day of the solstice, determined to take flight toward freedom.
